Urinary incontinence is a common condition that affects many women due to pregnancy, aging, menopause, and other causes, and it can be stressful and disruptive to daily life. At Mountain View Dermatology and Aesthetics in Tucson, AZ , Dr. Marc I. Epstein and his team offer EMSELLA®, a noninvasive treatment that strengthens the pelvic floor and improves bladder control with quick, comfortable sessions.

Urinary incontinence is far more common than many people realize, and it is not something you simply have to accept. The two most common types are:
- Stress incontinence – Leakage that occurs with pressure on the bladder, such as when you cough, sneeze, laugh, lift, or exercise
- Urge incontinence (urgency) – A sudden, intense need to urinate, sometimes followed by leakage, and frequent trips to the bathroom
Both are often linked to weakened pelvic floor muscles, which support the bladder and help control urination. Pregnancy and childbirth, aging, menopause, weight changes, and high-impact activity can all weaken these muscles over time. Many women and men also find that symptoms affect exercise, travel, sleep, and intimacy.
How Does Stress Incontinence/Urgency Treatment Work?
EMSELLA® is a chair-shaped device used in our Tucson, AZ office. Patients remain fully clothed while sitting on the chair, and focused electromagnetic energy stimulates thousands of pelvic floor muscle contractions per session, far more than could be achieved with exercises alone. These contractions rebuild muscle strength and retrain the pelvic floor to function properly. Each session lasts about 30 minutes, and most patients complete six sessions, scheduled twice a week, for optimal results. During treatment, you will feel tingling and pelvic floor contractions, but there is no pain and no recovery time.
What Are the Benefits of EMSELLA Treatment?
- Noninvasive approach with no internal procedures
- Comfortable sessions while fully clothed
- Noticeable improvements often after a single session
- Strengthens pelvic floor muscles
- Reduces leakage and urgency
- Enhances overall quality of life
- Short 30-minute sessions that fit into busy schedules
- Immediate return to normal daily activities
Who Is a Good Candidate?
EMSELLA can benefit women who experience leakage after childbirth or during menopause, as well as anyone dealing with stress or urge incontinence related to weak pelvic floor muscles. It is also a good option for patients who want to avoid medication or surgery. Certain implants, devices, or medical conditions may prevent treatment, so our team will review your health history during your consultation to ensure EMSELLA is right for you.
Feel Confident Again
Regaining bladder control can make everyday activities, from workouts to travel, more enjoyable. Patients interested in whole-body confidence often pair EMSELLA with body contouring or EmSculpt Neo, which use related electromagnetic technology to tone muscles.
