Sculptra Dermal Filler
by Greg McCracken - Dec 22, 2019 - Dermal Fillers
Sculptra dermal filler is a new type of cosmetic treatment. Sculptra is sometimes referred to as a “liquid facelift” because it helps create a fuller, more youthful face.
It corrects moderate-to-severe face wrinkles and lines. And, it also enhances facial volume and treats lipoatrophy, which is loss of facial mass associated with some health conditions.
The main ingredient in Sculptra dermal filler is poly-L-lactic acid, a biocompatible material that is gradually absorbed by the body.
Polylactic acid has been used in surgical products for many years, such as in dissolvable stitches. It works by helping the body build new collagen in the skin.
A series of three treatments with Sculptra spread over a few months can bring improvements that last at least two years or more. Best of all, results are subtle and natural.
New collagen
Sculptra dermal filler works deep within your skin, where it reinforces the structure and stimulates the formation of new collagen. This collagen reinforcement creates enough fullness to smooth over wrinkles and folds in your face.
New collagen forms on the polylactic acid foundation, which is absorbed over time, leaving the collagen in place. This new collagen makes your skin firmer, smoother and younger-appearing.
Candidates for Sculptra treatments
Since the poly-L-lactic acid in Sculptra is inert, there’s no risk of an allergic reaction. Still, if you have a skin infection, immune problems, or if you’re talkng aspirin or other anti-inflammatory medications, you should talk with your doctor before receiving Sculptra treatment.
People with HIV and others who suffer from facial wasting (lipoatrophy) can benefit from Sculptra treatments. And, the treatment also improves the appearance of sunken cheeks, eyes and temples.
In fact, a study conducted by the manufacturer of Sculptra found that 3 to 6 sessions of Sculptra treatment led to approximately 40% enhancement in facial volume for as long as two years after treatment.
