We’re proud to be Tucson’s leading provider of LED Lightwave® Therapy. It’s a painless, non-invasive way to heal your skin and reduce the effects of aging.
This technology uses low-level pulses of light delivered to the skin, without the pain and other side effects that sometimes follow from treatments using laser energy. LED Lightwave Therapy represents an essential breakthrough in the science of skincare.
✔ Stimulate collagen production
✔ Repair wrinkles, lines, & sun damage
✔ Heal acne and reduce its scars
✔ Reduce stretch marks
✔ Facial rejuvenation
First approved by the FDA in 2010 for multiple uses, LED Lightwave Therapy helps solve a wide range of skincare problems. For example, this breakthrough technology builds collagen in significant amounts and also fixes sun damage and wrinkles.
It also works wonders in reducing large pores. This technology can correct problems that were previously only solvable with lasers or chemical peels.
Most importantly, this therapy is safe, gentle on the skin, and long-proven. Many of our patients prefer LED therapy instead of relying on harsher treatments using laser light.
The idea of using light-emitting diodes for therapeutic purposes originated during research by NASA at the Marshall Space Flight Center. They were working with civilian laboratories to develop treatments to heal skin wounds during long space flights.
The rigors of space travel and the lack of healing sunlight caused astronauts to suffer small-yet-worrisome skin problems during their space missions. Skin healed slowly and aged quickly.
Researchers focused on finding optimal wavelengths for treating skin problems under harsh circumstances. Those early trials led to the development of LED light therapies.
Those early studies proved that the appropriate spectrum of light could heal wounds, promote cellular growth, and encourage new cell division. Treating skin with the right light gives it a healthier, more youthful appearance.
The spectrum (color) of LED light determines its therapeutic effects. Here’s a brief overview of how each color can help your skin.
Light from LEDs may also be used in combination with more substantial therapeutic effects. For example, red and blue light may be used together to treat mild or moderate acne and some other conditions.
Research indicates that red light can enhance the production of ATP (adenosine triphosphate) in cells. ATP is an energy-carrying chemical found in all living cells. It captures chemical energy from food and uses it to fuel cellular processes.
By stimulating the production of ATP, red light encourages cellular division and builds collagen. The result is younger skin with less sagging.
Red LED helps fix sun damage, pigmented lesions and vascular lesions, and other problems. It also promotes capillary health and skin elasticity.
Beyond its overall anti-inflammatory and anti-aging benefits for skin, red LED light also stimulates the body’s fibroblasts to build more elastin and collagen. Those are the two main benefits that keep your skin young and supple.
Research indicates that light’s blue wavelengths can increase the body’s microcirculation and help form new capillaries. When it has a better circulation of oxygen and cellular nutrients, your skin responds by healing more quickly and at a deeper level.
This spectrum of light is also beneficial in reducing bacteria’s activity on your skin, especially around the sebaceous glands. Those glands are typically associated with oily skin, clogged pores, and acne.
The light from blue LEDs can help dry and heal troubled skin. It helps reduce redness and soothing irritated skin.
Blue LEDs can be used to treat eczema, psoriasis, and rosacea. Blue light also helps balance the skin’s pH, and it also reduces stress.
Infrared LED light has many therapeutic uses. For example, Infrared lights are used to keep premature babies warm in the hospital.
Infrared lighting also provides topical heating that can help relieve minor aches and pains in muscles and joints. It also increases local blood circulation, which helps keep the skin healthy.
Both red and infrared light may be used together for treating periorbital wrinkles and lines near the eyes.
