How does BellaFill® treat acne scars?

We use Bella Fill and other dermal fillers to correct facial wrinkles such as “smile lines” and also to correct moderate-to-severe acne scars on the cheeks of patients 21 and older.

Scarring from acne usually results from an aggressive inflammation. Over time, this inflammation can cause irregular healing as well as the loss of collagen, which is the structural substance of skin. These conditions result in pitted skin with sunken scars and an uneven surface.

How does it correct acne scars?

This dermal filler works in two different ways. First, it’s collagen-based and it contains polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) filler microspheres which are thought to help build firmer, smoother skin by creating a matrix which supports production of collagen in the body.

And, just as importantly, the collagen offers immediate volume fill to lift deeply-pitted acne scars up to the same level as the surrounding skin.

What can it do for me?

Dermal fill treatments can reduce or correct acne scars. Acne scarring is lifted and filled. Dermal filler adds volume below the surfaces of scars and lifts pitted areas up to the same level of the surrounding skin. So, your skin appears smoother.
